प्रस्तुत हैं विवेकचूड़ामणि के महत्वपूर्ण श्लोक  हिंदी अर्थ सहित 

जिसमे यह जगत का आभास दर्पण में प्रतिबिम्बित नगर के समान प्रतीत हो रहा है, वह ब्रह्म ही मैं हूँ, ऐसा जान लेने पर तुम कृतकृत्य हो जाओगे ।

That in which there is this reflection of the universe, as of a city in a mirror – that Brahman art thou; knowing this thou wilt attain the consummation of thy life.

जो निर्विकल्प, महान और अविनाशी है, क्षर (शरीर) और अक्षर (जीव) - से भिन्न है तथा नित्य, अव्यय, आनंदस्वरूप और निष्कलंक है वह ब्रह्म ही तुम हो -

ऐसी ह्रदय में भावना करो ।

That which is free from duality; which is infinite and indestructible; distinct from the universe and Maya, supreme, eternal; which is undying Bliss; taintless – that Brahman art thou, meditate on this in thy mind.

जिस प्रकार जल आदि के संसर्गवश [किसी अन्य] अत्यंत दुर्गन्धयुक्त

वस्तु का लेप चढ़ जाने से दबी हुई अगरूकी दिव्य सुगंध संघर्षण (घिसने) के

द्वारा ही बाह्य दुर्गन्ध के दूर होने पर फिर अच्छी तरह प्रतीत होती है; उसी

प्रकार अंत:करण में स्थित अनन्त दुर्वासनारुपी धूलि से ढकी हुई परमात्मावासना

बुद्धि के अत्यंत संघर्ष से शुद्ध होकर चन्दन की गंध के समान ही स्पष्ट प्रतीत

होने लगती है ।

The lovely odour of the Agaru (agalochum) which is hidden by a powerful stench due to its contact with water etc., manifests itself as soon as the foreign smell has been fully removed by rubbing.

रजोगुण और सत्त्वगुण से तं, सत्त्वगुण से रज और शुद्ध सत्त्व से

सत्त्वगुण का नाश होता है, इसलिए शुद्ध सत्त्व का आश्रय लेकर अपने अध्यास का त्याग करो ।

Tamas is destroyed by both Sattva and Rajas, Rajas by Sattva, and Sattva dies when purified. Therefore do way with thy superimposition through the help of Sattva.

प्रारब्ध ही शरीर का पोषण कर्ता है, ऐसा निश्चय कर निश्चलभाव से धैर्य धारण करके यत्नपूर्वक अपने अध्यास को छोडो ।

Knowing for certain that the Prarabdha work will maintain this body, remain quiet and do away with thy superimposition carefully and with patience.

मैं जीव नहीं हूँ, परब्रह्म हूँ, इस प्रकार अपने में जीव भाव का निषेध

करते हुए, वासनात्रय के वेग से प्राप्त हुए जीवतत्व के अध्यास का त्याग करो ।

"I am not the individual soul, but the Supreme Brahman" – eliminating thus all that is not-Self, do away with thy superimposition, which has come through the momentum of (past) impressions.

जब तक स्वप्न के समान जीव और जगत की प्रतीति हो रही है, तब तक हे विद्वन!

अपने आत्मा में हुए इस अध्यास का निरंतर त्याग करते रहो ।

So long as even a dream-like perception of the universe and souls persists, do away with thy superimposition, O learned man, without the least break.

हे मुने! [घट का नाश होने पर] जैसे घटाकाश माहाकाश में मिल जाता है, वैसे ही जीवात्मा को परमात्मा में लीन करके सर्वदा अखण्डभाव से मौन होकर स्थित रहो । 

Merging the finite soul in the Supreme Self, like the space enclosed by a jar in the infinite space, by means of meditation on their identity, always keep quiet, O sage.

जो सर्वदा सत और सुवर्ण के समान स्वयं निर्विकार है तथापि भ्रमवश [उसके विकार कटक-कुंडलादि के समान ] नाना नाम, रूप, गुण और विकारों के रूप में भासता है वह ब्रह्म तुम ही हो - ऐसा अपने चित्त में चिन्तन करो ।

That Reality which (though One) appears variously owing to delusion, taking on names and forms, attributes and changes, Itself always unchanged, like gold in its modifications – that Brahman art thou, meditate on this in thy mind.
